I thought Saving Private Ryan was good and the series Band of Brothers was interesting, too. Both of them accentuated the bonds forged between comrades in arms
and were anecdotal--like hearing your grandfather tell war stories. The opening scene in SPR on Normandy was almost too much to sit through, but I felt obligated to--as
men really went through that and so many died. Both films/series left me feeling a deep respect for the sacrifices made by our veterans.

Saving Private Ryan was very-very good.
I loved "Enemy at the gates", 2001. It's about two snipers (one Russian and one German) who play a game of cat-and-mouse during the Battle of Stalingrad.

Saving Private Ryan and Pearl Harbour.
Both are equally beautiful war movies.
Pearl Harbour always leaves me so sad :( a very good movie about war-brotherhood and romance...You really should watch it :D
