Why do people watch horror movies?!
Question: I don't see the point but it's obvious that people like horror movies, why is that?

First off, don't generalise horrror movies by shoving them all into one category, you can get crap ones and good ones, and great ones
1) The thrill
2) The excitment of being scared
3) Digging deep into the core of our deepest fears which will be confronted in this show of artistry and the macabre
Maybe the reason you don't like them, is because you are yet to face your fears
its the adrenaline rush u get of fear its exciting while it lasts
i love being scared...weird i know but its just that scared feeling and then being relieved of the fear
i love to watch horror in dark too
its obvious they re trying to face their fears...its also probably the adrenalin flow too...
i love horror movies. i guess i just lke to get scared. horror movies always have the best twists as well.

i dont know but all because of chucky and the texas chainsaw massacre im scared of the dark and im 18 years old i cant sleep in the dark no matter what
I love the rush... But I also think it prepares us for future run-in's with monsters and/or killers. People who don't watch horror movies r usually the ones who run upstairs when being chased by an ax wielding psycho. Or the virgins having sex in the woods when an escaped mental patient is on the loose in the area.
I could ask the same question - I just don't get it (personally) why people would pay money to feel frightened for two hours... Maybe one day they'll make vomit-inducing movies, and people can pay to feel nauseated...

Because life is stressful, and full of heartache and pitfalls (and great joy, also). When I watch a really good horror movie, I don't think about the stressful stuff, and when it's over I am very relieved!
