Great movie death scenes?!

Question: I just watched Gladiator and thought the end was great, still fighting and trying to walk through the door. Can you tell me your fave movie death scene?

Sonny's death scene in The Godfather has got to be one of the greatest death scenes ever. Fredo's death on the lake wasnt as powerful as Sonny's death scene but it was great nonetheless because you realized Michael was indeed a Corleone in every sense of the word..to have a hit put out on his own brother

Also, the scene in the beginning of Scarface where Tony is forced to watch his friend get cut up by an electric saw. The scene was shot perfectly because it was gripping and you knew it was horrific just from looking at Tony's facial expressions. Another great one from Scarface is of course the ending when Tony yells 'say hello to my little friend' and dies moments later from a gun shot wound from behind. When he falls in the pool of blood with his blue suit on..it is so symbolic of the american dream gone terribly wrong.

I agree about Maximus' death scene in Gladiator...

Lord of the Rings- The Fellowship of the Ring when Borimir dies from dozens of arrows

Star Wars- Episode I when Darth Maul is unexpectedly cut in half by Kenobi

There are so many great death scenes and too many to name...another one that I love is from The Man in the Iron Mask when D'Artagnan dies.

well it is not a movie but the death's in charmed are good!
love gladiator!!

When Vader dies at the end of Return of the Jedi

Die Hard 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9?

The most memorable of all time is still the wicked witch of the west! What gross things were happening under that black dress we can only imagine.

Bamby :(

Roy Batty - Bladerunner...I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Has to be American Beauty for me, so calm and peaceful.

The pregnant girl's death in Creep. Rubbish film though.

In the series Rome 2 where Titus Pulo kills Cicero with a sword.

I watched Rob Roy last night , when his brother dies after being shot numerous times thats pretty dramatic and there's Braveheart, William wallace hanging in there even though he's been hung drawn and quartered. Got to hand it to the guy!

There's a scene in the hospital where a guy (or girl not sure) gets sucked into a turbine and is basically liquefied! Check out the trailer. The movie is called Bad Dreams.

what kind of death scene? when it comes to fighting death scenes, troy and the kingdom of heaven are great. when it comes to murder death scenes, the hitcher is really good enough.

Dracula: dead and loving it! i love it when leslie neilson is zapped dead by the sunlight and goes into a pile of dust on the floor and renfield draws a smiley face in it!! god that cracks me up! best death seen ever.

Favourite death scene!!!(puzzled, scratching head)

Why would I have a favourite death scene that's a bit morbid don't you think?!!

If you mean the saddest it would be Watership down ;0(

the end of the departed is memorable

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid- better to burn out than fade away!

i dont know if it my favorite ... but the beginning of Ghost Ship where everyone get cut in half is pretty crazy

the 300 one, when he gets killed!

Hannibal......the brain eating scene.

The death scene of Paul “Pee-Wee Herman” Reubens as the vampire henchman in the movie version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is beyond awesome.

I'm a fan of the classics - black and white originals. A couple of scenes stick in my mind:

1) James Cagney in White Heat (1949) Cagney is on top of a huge gas storage tank and says "Made it Ma, Top of the World" before the whole thing explodes.
2) Edward G. Robinson in Little Caesar (1930) Last line of Caesar as he was shot by police “Mother of Mercy, is this the end of Rico?”
3) The death scene in Citizen Kane (1941) the scene when Kane dies - last word "Rosebud".

There are many more but these occur to me off the top of my head:)

when the old guy is killed in LA Confidential - such a shock

I have to say while bladerunner was amazing, I think the death scean in SE7EN was brillient, deffinitly the best!!!
Also Alien was also great!!

when jack mercer dies in "the four brothers". It was really sad because in a tough family, they all seem to be baby-ing him and then he dies in the snow and his brothers couldn't come out because they were being ambushed.

Boromir In the fellowship of the rings (even though it should have been in the Two Towers) Sean Bean is a Great actor. I’m still hopping they will remake the Odyssey with him as Odysseus

The movie 300 has tons of death scenes. All of which are brilliantly done. The death scene of Sirius Black in Harry Potter is also notable.

My all time vote goes not to a movie, but to a mini series.

The death portrayed by Brian Blessed in I Claudius has no peer on film. It's the most riviting 3 minutes you'll ever see.

when scare face gets killed

When Christopher *Sopranos
sat on the little Dog. :-(

when walter donovan takes a sip from the chalice he thinks is the holy grail ,in "indiana jones and the last crusade",he proceeds to evaporate and all thats left of him is a swastika badge on the ground ,the knight of the first crusade proclaims " he chose poorly " ,i say thats what you get you nazi pig !!! cheesy i know but i dont care ,james cagney in " the public enemy ",he turns up at his ma,s house ,she opens the door to find him in bandages from head to toe like a mummy ,he then falls flat out in the doorway ,we then realise hes already dead ,really graphic for the time it was made
