Why did James Bond switch from a Beretta to a Walther PPK?!

Question: More stopping power?

Answers: More stopping power?

Yep, Jeffrey is right. I can't remember which movie it was in, but M told him to turn the Beretta in and exchange it for the Walther PPK, due to less jamming.

I think this scene was at the beginning of Dr. No.

What?!?!?!?!?!?

I think he was told less jamming

because the baretta 418 is a little sissy gun with no stopping power.

Yes more stopping power,
Boothroyd (Q) tells Bond that a Berreta's fine for in a ladies handbag.
Also because of jamming, Bond had apparently spent some time in Hospital the last time he used one
