Get a scripting software. Hollywood Screenwriter is good and not as expensive as others. It is ESSENTIAL. It keeps the screenplay in Hollywood format...which is huge if you are trying to get it reviewed...and it helps keep track of characters, action, etc.
Writing a script is the most painful thing you'll ever love to do. Dont give up on the bad days. Because the next day could put you over the top.
Avoid "talking heads" in your screenplay. Many new writers have a tendency to move all of the action with dialogue. Remember, movies are a VISUAL medium. So the description of the action instead of having a character tell us what the action is makes for a better script.
You can find tutorials free on line. You could even find free samples of software to use. There are thousands of sites. Do what I did. Just enter "script writing" or "screenplays" etc in your search bar and go to town. You'll find more information than you can think of. You'll also find stuff on how to have it reviewed, evaluated, and perhaps make a deal.
There is also a tremendous site called Zoetrope.com. This is a site set up by Francis Ford Coppola for writers. People evalulate other's work, and post theirs for critique. I post there all the time. You can post scripts, short scripts, novels, flash fiction, poetry...even songs and film scoring. Lots of fun, very informative, and generally good people to yak with.

Looks like if you are doing a "rough draft of the script" (also known as a spec script), I guess that it is best to try to avoid
trite characters. Try to twist ideas, personalities, emotions, in those characters.
This will help you better your script.
This is important whether the script is 40 pages or the long Hollywood version (about 110-120 pages).
