I agree; they shouldn't immediately say no to a movie just because it's rated R. It also depends on the content movie (for example, my parents are much more likely to say yes to a movie if it's just rated R for violence or language and not sexual content, but everyone's parents are different), the maturity of the person viewing the movie, and, believe it or not, how old the movie is; new R rated tend to have a lot more inappropriate content than, say, The Breakfast Club, which would probbaly be only PG-13 if it had been recently released. I wouldn't say your parents are totally crazy, just crazy about making sure they know what you're watching. Since it sounds like you're mature and have given some thougt to this, talk to your parents. Explain to them that, while you know the movie is violent, you also know the difference between it and real life and aren't about to go out and imitate what is done in the movie. With any luck, your parents will start to see it your way, and you'll get to see the movie. If not, know that you were the mature, thoughtful one in the situation.

they're just trying to protect you. a lot of rated r movies have really bad content or images that are very inappropriate for younger people. and since it's saw 4, they probably didn't want you to see a person get tortured and stuff.
and besides, saw 4 sucks, so don't worry about it.

omg mine too!
but hey get this, they wont even let me go to the movies with my boyfreind.
pretty wack huh?

It's true that most 15 year-olds (and, in fact, many kids younger than 15) have seen/heard worse than the content found in many R rated movies, yes. However, your parents are simply trying to do what they feel is best for you. I wouldn't let my child go see a film such as "Saw" until he/she was of legal age.

So, no, your parents are not crazy; they're trying to be good parents.

some parents are just that way. my parents started letting me watch what i wanted when i was like 13 or 14 (i'm now 27). i don't think it messed me up too much, other than the fact i love movies now.

Yeah some reason when people become parents all of their logic and fairness sort of vanish. Parents will never make sense, some say they do it to protect you but your going to see the movie most likely and trying to stop you just makes you want to see it more. Since you have seen CSI and such what is wrong with going to the movies and seeing the exact same thing?

As long as parents teach you what the difference between good and bad is then you should be able to watch what you want. Watching the Saw movies probably won't make you a serial killer. But with parents being as unfair and crazy as they are just makes your18th Birthday so much more special lol.

Lolz

move to australia, everything rated R in your country is MA 15+ here and you can c it. Sometimes its even M or PG. But I don't think there is anything wrong with it, i was 13 when i saw the first two SAW movies. and not much older when i saw the third.

:)
