God, I hope not. Haven't they killed him off yet or is he like Freddy and Jason. You know, where all that was creepy and fun about him gets turned into cliched mediocrity.

Yes. Thomas Harris signed a book deal for two books to be turned into films. The first, "Hannibal Rising" was released as a novel Jan 1st 2007, and as a film ~Jan 15, so the book and the films are "package deals" (He's also writing the screenplays)
So, yes, we'll have another book/movie that will cover the years between the end of "Hannibal Rising" and the beginning of "Red Dragon" (aka in film as "Manhunter")
Personally, I can't wait. Sick as it sounds, I'm a fan of Thomas Harris, and therefor Hannibal!
