Views on illegally downloading movies?!

Question: This is the way I see it. I'm not taking any money away from the film companies because I would never buy the movie in the first place. If torrents didn't exist then I still wouldn't buy the DVD in the store, I would just do without. So really I'm not adding or taking away money from them. I still go to the theater when a really good movie is playing so it's not like I don't pay for any of them but still. I'm sure most of the people downloading movies think the same way. So why do the companies make such a big deal about it? What do you think?

hey man, nobody complains when you walk into a library and check out a book FOR FREE. i don't hear any writers complaining about it, even tho if there were no libraries people would probably buy more books, so the writers are losing money. a lot of times you learn just as much by watching a movie as by reading a book, so if people didn't download and watch movies they'd know nothing about the world at all. why don't we just call file sharing an "e-library"? except it's better bcz you have to pay taxes to keep libraries going, but file-sharing doesn't have to be taxed.
i bet they'll find a way tho. they usually do.

I agree, I don't believe anyone is losing out through illegal downloads. Its not going to stop and almost everyone does it.
I don't see that its a big deal

same here i totally agree and same with riping a movie i paid my rental

It does say you can make copy but for your personal use at home; but if you intend to make a business from it, then it is illegal. Now downloading from internet, is rather risky and I would not be doing because with technology these days, they can track you down and they have the right to sue you. On top of that, movies are blurry to really enjoy the actual sound and quality pictures from it.

So, you folks don't mind, say if you became a singer that I download your music, right? Sure it will take money out of your pocket but who cares right?

It's all "cool" until it dips into your pocket.
