For chick flicks, it's "Thelma and Louise." Their nihilistic irreverence is at times amazing.

All-time favorite: The Shawshank Redemption. The intimate friendship that Andy and Red build over the years of adversity is extraordinary: "Get busy livin', or get busy dyin'. That's goddamn right."

Similar is Papillon: it's in the loyalty they show each other in the years on Devil's Island.
