Question: I loved this movie but never could quite understand why Saul Bloom got Terry Bennedict to take his brief case into his vault? What was the purpose of this part of the movie?

The Diamonds in the briefcase were the explosives used to blow open the vault door and it had to blow from the inside so that was the only way to get them in
I havent any idea... have to watch the movie again for that ;)

Because, they needed a way to get the Chinese guy into the vault. The only way to do this was to request his brief case go into the vault.
to bring aaction to the people.
