How many of you that saw Beowulf like the movie better than the poem?!

Question: The poem was so much better! I wouldn't have even gone to see this movie if my English teacher said he wouldn't give anyone who saw the movie extra credit! They totally changed the entire poem and made it into a classless movie just to make a couple bucks!

not it lol

Epic poem, so so gimmicky movie. Movie was ok, poem much better

I read the epic poem two months ago, I despised it for being so incredibly dumb, it's only academically worthy because of the "rich" (messy Old English) language and all that, but the story is so stupid:
Beowulf fights and kills (weakens actually) Grendel, Beowulf kills Grendel's mum, Beowulf fights the dragon, weakens it, he dies and his friend Wiglaf kills the dragon and inherits his throne.
That's it. Is that a real plot? I was amazed. Anyway, let us not be unfair, that was written centuries ago.

The movie? well, I didn't like it that much either, mostly because it was made as an animated film, but the story overall was a little bit more accepted, in the sense that it was kinda more entertaining (because the creators made gigantic changes in the original story), but still, it sucked.

Out of all my verbiage, CONCLUSION: the movie was better.

As the girl above me, I would NEVER have gone to watch it if my teacher wouldnt have promised us an extra credit... after the poem, I decided that I had had enough of this Beowulf guy. BUt still, between both failures, I would choose the movie better.
