The kissing is usually choreographed so that you can still see the actor's faces, and so the lighting on them is just right, etc. I agree, it often looks phoney.

They probably don't want them to get feelings involved... They try to stay detached, so they do it poorly. A truly good kiss is one that is all consuming between two people that love each other passionately and frankly that is difficult to immitate.
