I dunno ... those were odd movies. I guess it turns out that the Asian chick's mother was a whadyacallem, like an exorcist. So she would take the evil things out of people, and then put them in her daughter (smart move, Mom).
Now, I didn't really get how she died. I wasn't sure if the "evil things" kind of infected her husband, and he killed her, or if her killed her because of what was in her journal.
So yeah, so he killed her and her kid (and the cat, awwww) and they were ... so mad that they decided to make other people feel how they had hurt? Man, I don't know. But after the girl (Sarah Michelle Gellar) burned down the house in the 1rst one, it 'released' them or something.
So in the 2nd movie, when the schoolgirls snuck into the house, the Asian chick and her kid 'followed' them. When the one remaining girl moved back to the apartment building, they followed her there and started infecting everyone else.
That movie was all over the place. And every single person died! Oh well.
