Doesn't it just seem wrong for entertainers to make as much money as they do!

Question: I was watching some promo for a movie and the heroine of the film was begging the audience to go see this movie and to take anyone and everyone they know, I mean how much money do these people want to make? Why do we allow them to earn so much money for the work they do? Don't u think its wrong for them to make more than people who actually make a real difference in the world? I mean fine they can earn alot but for 1 single picture some actors take 3 -10 million, just for one single film!!!! It just doesn't feel right to me, agree/disagree or otherwise can someone help me understand????

I think a better question would be why do we complain about how much wealth famous people have and we never complain about how much money the corporate studio heads make? As bad as actors, musicians, and those types are about being phony, greedy, self absorbed, obnoxious turds, I don't most of them actively seek to physcially damage and pollute the earth or compartmentalize human beings into easily predictable and controllable demographics the way studio executives and corporations in general do. Actors and musicians don't create demographic charts, studio paid corporate psychologists under the direction of corporate studio heads do; Actors don't use technology to track viewing, spending, and other activities of 'consumers' in order to learn how best to hard or soft sell us things we do not need, studio heads and corporations do. Most actors don't build studios that pollute the air and waste gas and electricity; studios and corporations do. The fact of the matter is famous actors make a ton of money because we like them; if we don't watch their movies and "more importantly" buy the stuff they push on us then we won't see them anymore (where's Gary Coleman?) How many studio execs. can you name that have lost their jobs because the public didn't like them? How many can you name at all!? There's a saying that goes "Beware of the insidious hidden behind the obvious!" We complain about enterainers making so much because that's what's in front of us. Actors, musicians, athletes....etc make millions, while their bosses make billions. Entertainers at least pretend to care about the world around them, most executives have no such moral compass and only care when it cuts into their profit margin. Actors may make more money per film than execs., but execs. have their hands in a lot more films. The point is we as the public have a lot more say about an actors wealth and popularity than we do a studio executive; if we learn to find something better to do other than giving them our money and attention then maybe so would they. (Besides, if you're gonna have 100 paparazzi taking pictues of your crotch every time you exit a vehicle anyway, then maybe 3 to 10 million isn't so much?)

earning is something which totally depend upon the caliber of an individual, If an individual can opt to work hard for the whole life he should be free to earn as much as he can. whether he is an entertainer or in some other field or proffession.

Anyone who distracts you from the real issues of life, gets paid a great deal of money in the states.
Where else does this happen?
NOWHERE!
Our "machine" pays out quite generously, to keep you dulled and compliant.

No one allows them to earn that much. It's a private industry. Maybe it would be nice if teachers could earn that much as well. But then think about the money doctors earn, or lawyers.
The government can't dictate how much a professional should make. It wouldn't be right, or fair.
Yes it sometimes seems exuberant for movies stars to make that much money, but think about how much joy they bring to people who watch those films. Movies have been a part of many cultures for decades, a distraction from the mundane, sometimes an educational experiences, and sometimes a hope. So who's to say actors don't make a difference.

hi...u seem to be a looser to me..just cos u dont earn that much u envy them...leave them alone and u think about increasing ur earnings

I too felt like you sometimes.

Don't go for doctors. Think about the co-actors, Set makets, Light man etc., They don't even get the tip money, the famous actors give for their dinner, as their salary.

But people thrive for entertainment. and some are mad about some actor and actress. I know a person who watched a flop movie 100 times because he is fan of that actor.

He fought with his best friend because his friend spoke ill about his favourite actor's performance in that film.

Nothing can be done until these type of mads exists.

Moreover, movie is the cheapest entertainment available even poorer can occasionally afford. According to my knowledge that's the only reason that the industry is flourishing.

I agree with you, but if they can act like these actors who earn 3 - 30 million through a single film. But , if it is not so, this is the only way to earn money. Please not compare the eating of elephant with that of a rat.

Inasmuch as sportspeople, businessmen and professionals including lawyers, doctors do make mils as they do then why single out entertainers. Point is that that is life and that's their choice. If they make a difference to the world with their money they classify as greats else they are not worth remembering or even talkin about !
