Anyone else who doesn't get the "scare" effect watching horror mov!

Question: My girlfriend and I sat down watching 4 titles yesterday . She was sweating and terribly scared but I wasn't easily shocked at all. Some of the visuals were graphically disturbing and even though I was totally immersed into the storyline, I couldn't find one scene that would tremble me a bit. I was more busy noticing the camera goof-ups, plastic paints and ham expressions of the actor.

Most useless genre of movies I guess.

It is not the most useless genre, but the least financed!!! It sure is difficult to find a movie in which you can actually feel your heart beat stronger each time, but that's because of the business flaws. I once wrote the scariest screen play and sent it to a contest, and when it ended I received a letter telling me that my script just couldn't have won any award because it was too expensive to produce, so, we'll just have to keep taking loads of garbage when we pay a ticket to watch a "Horror" movie. :-(

A couple years ago, when my husband was out in the field, I borrowed Saw and The Grudge from my neighbors. The husband told me not to watch them alone, and told me about how he was scared watching The Grudge in broad daylight.

Well, I watched both. Back to back. At night. Alone.

I wasn't freaked out at all.

You're not the only one who isn't scared by horror movies. There isn't a single one so far that's ever given me nightmares, and I rarely jump during them. Most of the time, they're too predictable.

I understand what u mean...I don't get scared by "horror" flicks neither...I don't know why that is...I want to see a scary movie that makes me jump n close my eyes! Lol

I personally love horror films and horror novels, not for being scared but I enjoy the stories much more than say a romantic comedy. I really at times find them the more disturbing, the more interesting - but I suppose that makes me odd.

i second that opinion. scary movies just aren't what they used to be. i've always found what movies scare me are plots/situations that could actually happen. for me, being startled (i.e. a loud crash during silence) doesn't really qualify as a "scary movie" in my book. when i was a little kid, movies like child's play, IT, or friday the 13th were scary cuz i didn't know any better between reality and whatnot. but now i know. i can't think of a good list of movies that were eerie to me except for... One Hour Photo (with robin williams). movies now-a-days like SAW 1, 2, 3, 4... and such are just crap its just gorey movies that just wanna make people squirm not scream.

What movies did you watch? Maybe they were just crappy horror movies. Horror movies don't scare me anymore either, but that's because I have watched too many of them.
