I take you didn't listen to the show. The currency used is called "double-dollars". This makes Vash the "Sixty-Billion Double-Dollar Man". It is invented for the show.
Many countries use "dollar" as the name of their currency, but usually a letter accompanies the $ symbol to denote the particular currency: $A for the Australian dollar, or $C for the Canadian dollar. However, Trigun is a game, and the second $ is there like an exclamation point. There is no $$ designation in the real world.
