Without bashing religion will you or will u not boycott Nicole Kidman's movi!

Question: Just want to know whether u will boycott the movie or not not whether u like religion or not.

Answers: Just want to know whether u will boycott the movie or not not whether u like religion or not.

I don't plan on seeing the film myself, but figure everyone else has their own decisions to make.

I don't like the idea of supporting a man that writes about killing God. Just my personal opinion. Good writing or not, it isn't a subject matter I'm interested in.

Going to see it this Saturday. Read the book last week. Looks like a good harmless movie, and the story is good.

i dont understand why people would get mad at movies like that or the da vinci code or even harry potter. seriously, they're just movies, they're not telling anyone what to do or what to believe.

i just think it looks stupid.
EDIT; no scratch that. im gonna see it as many times as i can. i hope this film is huge just to spite you stupid fundis!!!

No, I won't boycott it. Why should I expect atheists to see Christian themed movies like The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of The Rings, but then refuse to see atheist themed movies? We should all be actively seeking out people with differing views from our own, that's the only way we ever learn anything.

I see no reason not to. It is a fantasy film based on a fantasy set of books. Nothing involving religion at all.
It is people's interpretation that is the controversy

I would like to, but the book does endorse the defeat of the religious leaders(AKA the Magisterium) and at the end of the series, the defeat of God.

The little girl in the movie kinda give me the creeps...

I don't plan to see it. I'd rather see P.S. I love you.

Why would I? It's just a movie and I am smart enough to recognize that. Frankly, I had no interest until the church began making a stink. Now I'm curious.

It is a work of fiction...same as the bible. I see no problem.

no boycotting here looks good every body has different opions

I don't think that a movie is good or bad just based off of religious context. If it's good, I'll watch it, but if it's bad, then whatever. I'm Lutheran myself, and I think that people take these kinds of movies waaaay to seriously. It's a fantasy film, something to be taken light heartedly and to enjoy the creativity of the author.

no i wouldn't. it's your choice to see the movie or not, so if religious people don't want to then don't go, simple. anyway I'm agnostic and enjoy religious movies (all religions) and respect them, so why don't Christians think the same, and just except the world they live in , instead of trying to change everyone into sheep.

im a deist, so it doesn't bother me. if it's a good movie, then i'll see it. plain and simple.

No, I won't boycott it. I plan on seeing it.

No, I want to see it and was excited about it when I first read it was being filmed. I actually believe in freedom of expression, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion.

I plan on seeing it. I loved the books. The controversy doesn't bother me at all.

Hadn't given it any thought. I am a christian, nothing will influence that. After reading all the answers to your question, I will go see it. Curiosity.

Honestly I think an organized boycott just peaks people's interests more. By drawing attention to the movie it makes more people want to see what all the fuss is about.
Personally, because of certain religions being so against it, that makes me want to see it more and also read the books too!

I strongly believe in intellectual freedom as being an important quality for leading a human being's real growth and maturity. Instead of boycotting and banning books or films, I would think of the wisdom of Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams in confronting Pullman's "His Dark Materials" book series. In his opinion, these series should be part of religious education since learning about other aspects of belief in god can only lead to a more mature view of faith. People of genuine religious should be expected to be tolerant and have more confidence in the foundation of their faith and beliefs. Any organized religion that so easily feels intimidated by the exposure of others' beliefs couldn't be seen as a provider of true leasership for a person's growth. I guess, when one thinks of this film being called for boycott, it's hard not to associate with the hard-nose religious bureaucrats.

Would I boycott this movie, or disallow the members of my family to boycott it? Absolutely not. As a family of book-worms for generations, the adult members of our family have made it a point to read and encourage/inspire every member to read, especially those facing controversial confrontations. How can we defeat problems generated if we bury our heads in the same hole and not know what's being exposed to others. We have all gone through Pullman's trilogy and read to those who still need help in reading, and encouraged those who've read to offer their thoughts and opinions over the 929 pages of the series' contents. Yes, we will all go see the movie when it's being released locally in our theaters. We are interested as to how Film Director Chris Weitz, his cast of actors, and all his other filmmaking associates brings the beauty of Pullman's written language to the visual screen. If one isn't willing to be exposed to the creative art of those living in our times, how are we to to learn to appreciate and compare the creative work of God and the changes we've seen over time. Intellectual Freedom is important to every human being's growth and maturity. By boycotting any work of artistic venture would only mean that we'd be prepared to get stuck in our soliditary walled-up hole without knowing what lies outside its boundary.

Jesus had walked beyond His home, and He had experienced beyond what His parents and little community taught. Even as a child, His mother or anyone, for that matter, wasn't holding His hands to stop Him from wandering around in search of His own experience and observation.

There's no way one can deem a book or movie is good without being exposed to it personally. Would you jump over the cliff if an authority demands it. Would you burn a person on the stake because some authority cleverly promoted mass hysteria that he/she is a witch, like the way they burned Joan of Arc, or the victims after the Salam Witch Trials? God gave us individual brains to think, and our five senses to allow us to grow. By failing to use these for our own observation and learning would be God's waste on us.

Yes I will boycott the movie.

I will become the pope, then i shall endorse this movie and spread peace throughout the land.... PRAISE THE LOD!!
