Why didn't Chewbacca talk to obi wan while on board the falcon heading to al!
Question: What I want to know is, if chewbacca was a key player in the war on his home planet and was one of the leaders who worked hand in hand with Yoda, (from episode 3) wouldn't you think he would have said something to Obi Wan about how he fought with yoda, or when Han was making fun of the jedi saying it was a hokey religion, chewy could have said something like "yeah right, I fought with some of them and they are some bad mf'ers".
I can understand there could be circumstances about why chewbacca isn't a great warrior anymore, but when chewy and Obi wan came together in episode 4, I can not see why they didn't reminence about yoda or anything.

We didn't hear the first meeting of Chewbacca and Obi Wan in the Cantina. They could have done a quick reminisce and then Obi Wan asked Chewbacca not talk about it in front of Luke. Luke didn't seem to be listening and was then distracted by the attacker.
Well, because Obi wan violated him when he was younger and ever since Chewie has had issues and having a hard time dealing with it.

Chewie was busy playing chess with C3Po...remember? and besides, Obi Wan was teaching Luke how to feel the force...you just don't interrupt that with idle chit chat...
Obi-Wan and Chewbacca never met before they met in Episode IV, that's why.
Well maybe han solo and yoda were the only ones that spoke wookie lol!
yeh and also at the beginning of episode 4 -Obi Wan doesnt remember R2D2 or C3PO - he should be very familiar with them
Yoda was never mentioned in A New Hope...and remember Darth Vader was a Jedi Knight. Chewbacca never met Obi Wan...how is he to know who to believe and trust when the empire had spies throughout the galaxy.
I believe the Wookies were very territorial and extremely good fighters.....I see two possiblilities....
1. Chewbacca, after Yoda went into seclusion and the Jedi were slaughtered, did not know of Obi- Wan and isn't sure how many of the "good" ones still exist...if any (a trust issue)
2. He's not even on his planet defending it any more. He's with a slimy, self-serving pirate....Chewie, too, may have fled and, consequently be too ashamed to be in the same room as a "good" Jedi....or something to that effect, either way, he's in the business of making money...he may not even care about Obi-Wan at all, lol.

maybe his memory isnt that great.
I have to disagree with one thing though, that some people have said.
Lucas had all this in mind when he wrote all 6 (or 9) scripts in 1975-1983 (ive seen the original scripts)
so maybe its a memory laps.
besides, who's to say he didnt say something. All we saw in the 4-6 epsisodes was centered around 2 people. Chewbacca never knew Obi-wan. i dont know if you realize this, but the only thing in the prequels that might have had them appear together was during the hologram-jedi council meeting where yoda is transmitting from the wookie world and Obi-wan is siting in one of the council chairs, and chewbacca is standing behind Yoda.
I dont see because of that, Obi-wan being someone Chewbacca was farmiliar with totaly.
