Question: ...I'm a big fan of creative and practical-looking movie weapons, especially swords; for the longest time, I've been looking for a movie, I think that it falls within the 'sword & sorcery' genre, which showed a tri-bladed sword, where two of the blades were able to be propelled from the hilt, like spears...

...why, you're talking about the dark, mysical and swashbuckling 1982 fantasy/adventure film, "Sword and the Sorcerer"; in the film, a young prince, welding the sword, tries to fight his way into seclusion, and protect his family from an invading regeme, who wants to take over the throne, using black magic. The prince, before getting injured in his hand, fires off two of the sword's blades, killing his attackers. He then goes into seclusion, and emerges many years later, as a scruffy-lookng, rogue, swashbuckling adventurer and mercenary for hire, bound for his kingdom, in an attempt to reclaim the throne, or at least see the right person set there...
