Its a spinoff movie, but the 2008 date is not guaranteed. Also Sam Raimi will not be directing, and it may not even be done by Sony Pictures. So Technically it might not be a spin off, but it WILL be about Venom from Spiderman where he turns good and falls in love and fights evil but also tries to fight off the evil in himself.
