A question on the movie "The Mist"?!

Question: Wasnt it the worst possible ending for the best movie?
I mean he kinda jumped the gun (so to speak) a little huh? I promised my son I would at least think it over a while.... lol. It was nothing like the story.

Given that Frank Darabont has made 2 other movie based on Stephen King books (The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption), I can't help wondering if King had something to do with that ending. It certainly seems like something he might come up with - keeping in mind the story was originally written something like 30 years ago.

I have really mixed feelings about the movie. Mostly it was very well done, but that ending is horrible.

But you do have to ask yourself what you would do if you thought you were in that kind of end of the world situation and were trapped with no food, no gas, and no apparent escape.

I think that they should have ended it totally different.

I didn't read the book, but I thought the movie had a great ending. I liked it because it wasn't like every other happily ever after ending

I too didn't read the book, although now I want too. I thought it was a great ending though. Really made the movie chilling and horrific. But yes, when he did it I was like, uhhhhh, why don't you guys just wait a little bit.
