The film was making fun of the modeling scene. Every model is supposed to develop there "look", in a manner of speaking, in order to fully be the best model possible. In zoolander Ben stiller's character had not found his own "look", so he wasn't the best model that he could be. When he finally turned right which he was never able to do it was his look, it was Blue Steel.
