Star Trek or Star Wars? Which do you prefer and why?!

Question: Personally, its Star Wars!

Answers: Personally, its Star Wars!

I would say Star Wars because it tells a story with a full arc with the downfall of Anakin and his redemption by his son Luke. Star Trek's universe is so fast with all the series and movies that it is sometimes difficult for that story to have a complete arc. That said, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is a terrific and tragic motion picture.

I like Space Balls.

Star Wars...cuz I can't stand Star Trek (I just never got into it).

I would say Star Wars, but i don't mind Star Trek!

Star Wars because I actually get whats going on and it's les creepy.

i like both they are both good storys

StarTrek simply for the original series and the sleazyness of captain James T. Kirk

Star Wars, chewbacca, who can resist him..
Star Trek freaks me out with those funking things growing off peoples heads.

star trek.. they could laugh at themselfs.

also better looking aliens

I lovee star wars, thanks to my dad! He let me watch it since I was like 5. I lovee it! Call me a dork. :D

star trek ---- i didnt see nobody gettin any of that fine green stuff like Kirk did on trek in star wars

There really is no basis for comparison. Star Trek is a TV series and even the movies were TVish. Star Wars movies were epics and stand well above anything Star Trek has ever done.

Star Wars! Great story line, exciting fight scenes, interesting characters...

Star Trek doesnt even come close!!

The original Star Trek. Weak on CGI, strong on story line.

I love Star Wars Just because as a kid I thought it was awesome and I really never got into star trek I thought it was stupid.

start wars because star trek seems to deep and to much stars wars is about battling and other things which is more my genre

i don't understand the comparison between them? i love both actually!

Star Trek, but only the Second Generation. The original Star Trek and unfortunately Star Wars too both went overboard on aliens and made many of them laughable and thus unbelievable. The Second Generation seemed to recognise this and toned dwon the aliens, mainly to be sub-species of one or the other main races.

Star Wars told a story.
Star Trek was a series, the stories were eposodic, and the movies were just extended episodes and mini-arcs.

I hate the constant comparisons, I think they're both brilliant in different ways.

But if I had to choose....

Star Wars.

Choosing Darth Eugene Vader as my avatar really says something.

I would say drama & action.

Although there is something about the endless battle of emotions vs logic in the McCoy vs Spock debates, with Kirk in the middle looking for an answer or to mediate between the two friends; Star Wars has more drama behind political plots, honor, trust, loyalty, wars, compasion, redemption, revenge, etc. And thinking about action... Star Wars kick the butt of Star Trek in any movie.

As far as movies go, Star Wars. I really liked the older Star Trek shows (like, the first one and TNG) but the movies really weren't that great.

star wars. it's a less utopian vision of the future even though it's set "long ago"

Star Wars...the story line is great and the action is awesome.

Personally, I love both. I don't think you can say that one is better than the other--at heart, 'Star Trek' is science fiction and 'Star Wars' is fantasy.

If I *had* to choose one, I would choose 'Star Trek'. It's been a part of my life for close to 25 years. I was raised a Trekkie. I've been to at least 8 conventions, and even took a class on 'Star Trek' in college. Despite its obvious missteps ('Enterprise', the odd-numbered movies, the latter half of 'Voyager'...), I love 'Star Trek' for its vision of the future. Much of the science fiction created to that point was negative; 'Star Trek' showed that there was hope, that cultures and races and even aliens could come together to create a better society. From a cultural standpoint, the original 'Trek' was revolutionary, both in the views championed by Gene Roddenberry, and for the effect it had on fans (organizing writing campaigns not only to bring the show back for a third season, but to name the first NASA orbiter "Enterprise").

Trekkies have a reputation (not entirely undeserved) for being... a bit nuts. But the wonderful thing about them is that, on some level, they all share the same vision of hope.

While I always enjoyed the 'Star Wars' films, I never got "into" it until I was almost an adult. These days, I'd say I love it as much as 'Trek,' just for very different reasons. I love the story for the archetypal, "Hero's Journey" elements, and the fantastical elements like the Force.

STAR WARS cuz it has action, love and a teachin about life (when Annakin turned to da dark side)and star trek is just a action packed kid thing

STARWARS!!!! Star Trek was boring no action all talk. Cpt. Kirk didn't have any powers, no Ewalks, no Chewy, fight seens were dump, plus what t.v. shows make good movies?

Starwars pitted good vs. evil. With so many sub-plots like Han and Lando, or Leah and Luke, or Vador and Luke.

The best thing about StarTrek is the intro....

Star Wars. Star Trek Deep Sleep 9. Another long conversation in space. Yawn.

neither
sorry
xx

Star Trek movies hands down, it's the best. The Star Wars movie was entertaining though for it's time and had a lot of good figures come out of it, toys and such, that were sold as a result.

Star Trek on the other hand is a true classic not for the those dabbling in sci-fi, but for those who spend the time to follow the episodes and look forward to the movies.
