he isn't the last person alive, there is a safe colony in new jersey with people, he is running from these things called night seekers, thy were once human, but a lady invented a cure for cancer but it turned them into these mutant humans, they can only come out at night because UV rays from the sun burn their skin, the climax is when the night seekers finally break into his house and him and 2 other humans that he found run down to his lab and hide in a super thick glass chamber, but the ring leader starts ramming the glass and the 2 other humans go into this chamber but he can't go because he has to save them

he found that he cured one of the night seekers he kept in that glass cage thing and take it's blood and gives it to the humans in the chamber, then he gets a grenade and blows the whole place up just as the night seeker breaks the glass, the two humans get out and drive to a safe zone in new jersey where there are some people that haven't been infected and they give them the blood from the cured night seeker
then it ends
