Why were movies better in the 80s and 90s than now?!

I think there are still great movies being made, but we are being flooded with crap also because there are just simply more studios making them and more theatres to watch all of them in. When I was a kid, there were two new movies out at a time.
Plus, moviemakers now try to focus on being louder, more effects, you know, just keeping up with the Jones' to get the audiences. And the need for gratuitous sex scene seems to have increased. There is a whole slew of young actors competing with eachother. Because their numbers are higher and movie scripts harder to come by, they have to be willing to do more.
Don't give up, there are still great ones out there, you just have to do more wading to find them.
I wouldnt say that they are. There have been many great movies made in the last few years. There was a lot of good movies in the 80's and 90's, though.
I know what you mean...Hollywood has just struggled to follow up on blockbusters like, "Three Men and a Little Lady" or "Look Who's Talking Now." I mean, I just haven't been the same person since "Drop Dead Fred" and "Howard the Duck."
I would say back then they left more to the imagination. Our imaginations can do wonders! Nowadays, they show too much, there is no guesswork.
