What movie had someone sing this song?!

Question: Ok, there is the movie where a character sang the song Smile... it was originally from Nat King Cole...

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

who sang it? what part?

MY GIRL 2,
VADA SANG IT TO THE NEWBORN BABY AT THE END OF THE MOVIE AND VADA'S MOM SANG IT IN THE MOVIE CLIP THAT VADA SAW OF HER MOM WHEN SHE WAS TRACKING DOWN INFO. ON HER MOM OR HER DAD.
100% POSITIVE! THE SONG WAS SANG TWICE IN THE MOVIE, 1 BY VADA 2 BY HER MOM

it sounds so familiar but cant think of it

Perhaps it's used in "Chaplin". Charlie Chaplin wrote the music for "Smile": It originally was used in the soundtrack for Chaplin's film "Modern Times" (1936). He composed the music, and John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons wrote the lyrics.

"Smile" has been used in several movies if my memory serves; most use Nat "King" Cole's version, which is featured on the soundtrack of "Smile" (1975), an interesting movie about beauty pageants.

In "My Girl 2" (1994), Maggie Muldovan as Vada's mother sings "Smile" during a home movie.

I just found a listing of the tracks for "Chaplin". They don't use "Smile" in that movie. If I recall where I've heard the others uses, I'll add them.

The main character in "My Girl 2" watches an old home movie of her real mother singing this song.

And, of course, there's the original version of it in the movie "Modern Times", starring Charlie Chaplin.
