Costigan and Sullivan were rats and we discover Costello was also a rat.
At the end, there's a rat on the apartment where Sullivan was murdered.
-"X" There are lots of X patterns throughout the movie. For examples :
When Costello was in the garage in the first 10 minutes in the movie, there were two woods crossing making an X sign, another one was the one where the X on the truck when Costigan chasing Sullivan after the porn theater scene.
Many windows in the movie has the XXXXXXXXX bars.
Everytime there is an X, the person near the X will die.
Martin Scorsese said that this is a tribute to Scarface...

i dont know what your talking about but i really liked that movie!
the message that they give me at least is that swearing is all good. even encouraged :-)
Extreme potty mouth to the point of being distracting from the plot of the movie. Unfortunately, gratuitous swearing seems to be common in this director's films - Martin Scorscasie (sp?) - and so I will avoid his films in the future. I watch DVDs for relaxation, enjoyment and entertainment -- NOT to be constantly offended by the language.
