Just saw "I am Legend" yesterday and I have one question ... how did .!
Question: Anna and Ethan get to where Robert was if the bridges were destroyed ? And how did they get to Vermont ?
I have been to New York before and I know that you have to get there via those bridges and if there were alternate ways for them to get out of where it was quarantined, what was the purpose of blowing up the bridges in the first place ?
That's the only part of the movie I can't wrap my head around; the rest of it made sense and I liked the movie alot ... just can't figure out the logistics of how they got around.

There is also the Holland Tunnel, but that doesn't necessarily sound very fun and of course the subway system does connect the island with the outer burroughs. Again, not exactly a favorable avenue but possible none the less.
AND BY THE WAY, Doesn't it seem that if you are worried about a question spoiling a movie for you, you would stear clear of questions about that movie? Your question clearly notes immediately that you are curious about the content of the movie.

The movie kind of missed a lot of stuff like that, but they could have crossed in a boat and taken that same boat out.

I saw that movie too this weekend, and you know I never thought about that! That is a really good question! Coming from Maryland I would think that those bridges would be the only way to get into New York. I know when I went there that was the only way to that part of the island. Good observation! You know how movies are though, anything can happen in them logical or not.

they could have used a ferry or a small boat. bridges arent the only way to get across lol. and then used a car on the other side or brought the car over on a ferry.
well they blew up the bridges yes but robet nevalle was gonna take a helicopter rememeber?
oh and smith never actually got to vermint, but getting to vermont isnt that hard...
yeah I was confuse about that too..if they swam how the heck did they have the car when they got to Vermont? They blew up the bridge so people who lives in NY won't be able to go to another state and contaminate everyone else...it was a good movie =)

I think anna and ethan may have already been in new york just hiding somewhere because she did say she waited at the pier for him........ but when they finally go tto where it was quarantined they could have traveled by boat or plane, there are other ways to travel. but i'm sure with everything in that city even without a boat or plane available there would be some kind of supplies to make something that could float. it is possible, although not the best logic... i liked the movie too, will smith was the best man to play that part. smart funny hottt and soo talented. :)
*SPOILER* I don't know. Didn't she mention a Red Cross boat? The movie had a LOT of plot holes! How the heck did she fight off all those vampires and save Dr. Neville in the middle of the night, drive him back to his place and cook breakfast? I would like someone to answer that for me! Thanks!
In the movie it appeared that the Brooklyn bridge (and other bridges to Brooklyn) were blown up. That suggested that the biological facility or the ground zero for the viral outbreak was on Long Island. Later in the movie he is staying in Washington Square which is in Manhattan. That would suggest access to Manhattan still existed after the viral outbreak and explain how they still got to him. He was off of Long Island and in Manhattan.
I was wondering that myself. I suppose it would have been possible for her to take a boat and then find another car in Manhattan.
But how did the lions and deer get there? Unless the circus happened to have been in town when the island was quarantined, there's no place for lions to have come from. I know of no deer living in Manhattan. Once the bridges and tunnels were done away with, how would these animals have made it from the Bronx, Queens or Brooklyn? (And that's not even a spoiler, since they showed that in the trailer)
The Brooklyn Zoo? No lions at the Prospect park Zoo, only the Bronx Zoo. In any case, neither would have been connected to Manhattan if the island was cut off completely.
i do not know how they got there, but the bridges were blown up so that the infected ppl cant get to were the unfected ppl are, if they were alive just what i think it wasn't what i thought it would be though
anna and ethan came in a car (lights to scare away death seekers, drove neville back to his house, drove it to vermont), so they didnt swim, or take a helicopter
there are only two explanations:
1) since the movie is set in 2012, they had a flying car
2) their car was actually Optimus Prime. he was able to transform and get them safely across the bridge into New York.

They came on a boat, she told him that. I think the animals got there somehow via the subways, remember the dog chased that deer thing in there. Her headlights scared away the scary guys long enough for her to get him in her car.
No clue how she got to Vermont.
