When trying to watch a movie on DVD player the only sound we can hear is the bac!

Question: We just bought a new DVD player and the brand is "Haier". when clicking the audio button on remote, only one of the options works which gives me the sound of director talking about the film. other than that the actor's sound is blocked out and only thing we can hear is the background noise(i.e. explosion or airplane noises). it is very strange. do you know how to fix this problem?
Thank You

Most likely, you are hearing the decoded Dolby Digital or DTS soundtrack with only the left and right speakers working. You actually missing the center channel here.

Check for cables or switch on your pre-amp (if you used one).

You can also look for audio playback option through your DVD remote. Normally in commercially released DVD there's a Stereo 2.0 besides the Dolby/DTS 5.1 format.

Or is there any other audio output pair beside the one you're using currently. Some player have built in Dolby/DTS decoder option, in that case they have two sets of audio out. Stereo and 5.1 sets.

Good luck.

Are you connecting it to a Stereo or a TV?

If a Stereo, You may have Multi Audio jacks on the Back make Sure its in the Audio In

If its a TV you have a Crappy DVD player or Cords
