Why hasn't my theater released Sweeney Todd???!
Question: I know that Sweeney Todd was supposed to come out on "christmas day" origionally, and then it was changed to be released on Dec. 21st. Everyone I know in other states said that it came out last friday where they live, yet at my theater it still says "coming soon"
How can the theater NOT follow the release date set by the movie company?

It was released "nationwide" on the 21st, but unfortunately it only released in a tiny 1,249 venues. It may be released into a larger number of theaters later on, but that's probably why you don't have it in your local theaters.
Also, if your theater happens to be part of the Marcus Theaters Corporation, they've stated that they will not be running the movie as they couldn't come to an agreement with Paramount Pictures on the film cost for Sweeney Todd.

yeah that's messed up!! it's already opened where i live!
because the movie creators want tickets to be priced a certain way and sweeney todd is askin a high amount and some theaters won't raise their ticket prices to suit them. why do you think movies can make millions in their first weekend (it's rigged to make sure they do). theaters are finally standing up for you
You live in a minor city that has no use in American system of a taxed government.
The relelase date IS set by the company.
they may have decided to reduce the amount of theaters they open in and clipped yours
the town i live in has about 20+ theaters for a town of over a million and only 2 theaters are showing it..i have to admit i was shocked i thought it would be all over the place
