In the book it's explained that years before he was bitten by a vampire bat that must have had a weakened strain of the virus and he became immune. It's not explained in the movie how he was immune. So were a lot of things left unexplained.

probably evolution immunity or something <333 merry christmas <333

i saw the movie the day it came out so i hardly remeber but i belive becuase he was the doctor that caused the whole drama.. and therefor he knows the cause and how they can not be exposed to the sun... so he locked him self in the hose and had the metal shelds or wt ever so it saved him for the infected ones fro attacking.. ... and same with the dog!! .. i hope i made since its late at night and my mind cant function well :)

In the movie,Neville explained that 1 percent of the population was naturally immune to the Krippen virus. This meant that 12 million people in the world survived unchanged. However, the 500 million or so that became "darkseekers" hunted and fed on them. So 3 years later, which was the timeframe of the film, there weren't many immune survivors left.

Do u believe in Movie miracle??!!!!!!!!!
Its ur answer. Will smith is Neville & he is the main actor. So he must not die. Anyhow. Its an unwritten rule.

He said that some ppl were immune to the airborne virus. They'd still change if they got bit but they couldn't catch it from the air.

he was inmune to virus

I understand your frustration with this, but like with almost every Will Smith movie, he is a superhero-type.. invincible. Thats HIS role. And yeah, in the movie he mentioned that he is immune to the airborne, and (I think) the bitten way of contracting the virus.

I understand your frustration. I had the same feeling after seeing the movie. Obviously that's the question we want answered after an hour of build-up and he explains it to the lady in about 30 seconds thus leaving the viewers (like us anyway) frustrated and wanting a more thorough explanation. I'm guessing the book probably goes into more depth.

Because he was one of the few people who survived and immune the K-virus virus. So he tried his experiments to find a cure by using his immunity on the rats and the infected zombie. His dog was also immune to the virus too.

1% of the population was immune
.
By the way his dog was not immune
