Movie Experts (that's just about all of us), what makes a good movie, in you!

Question: It's refreshing when I haven't figured out the entire movie in the first five minutes!

For that reason, I've been totally turned off by movies.

In one of your other questions about great movies, I have another one. Perhaps, it qualifies as very good - anyway, it was called 'The Game' with Michael Douglas as the star. I had a lovely surprise. I also liked 'The Sixth Sense'. The ending made me go, 'oh'!!! And 'Braveheart" and 'Dances With Wolves' were very good too.

Now, you've put me in the mood to see a really good movie. Any suggestions?

If a movie depicts a reasonable, believable scenario whether real or fictional and it has a few unpredictable surprises and shows people caring for people and good winning out over evil, then in my opinion it is a good movie.

you need comedy.action.and a hot girl.

It has to reach me on all levels.

Good story
Strong acting
SUperb directing
Excellent cinematography
And it must stimulate my thoughts and ideas

lil bit of everything, comedy, action, drama. Sadness makes a good movie, that way u know u are effecting the audience. Realism or complete fantasy. And having things the audience can relate to or understand.

It has to grab your attention from the get-go, just like a good book. Believability is important too, humor, action and interesting characters.

1. a good story
2. a good directer with a vison of the story
3. actors that understand their part in the story

If you don't care about the characters, it doesn't matter how many boobs and explosions are in the show.

Everything the Davinci Code has in it....controversy, history, theory, action, mystery, resolution of one part while leaving unsolved mystery behind.

Elysabeth...poemhunter, as in .com

i guess it depends upon the genre. since i love horror, i'll review that.

horror needs a simple, linear plot, first and foremost. i'll reserve complicated plots for romantic comedies, and spy thrillers.

second, it needs resonably likeable characters. no one likes characters who are a--holes, or just fodder for the killer. they are a distraction, and they waste time.

finally, you need hope. you should want the characters to survive. nothing big needs to be at stake other than their own survival.

notice i didn't say gore, nudity, or comedy. while some mild comedy can be used to break the tension, so long as the plot is one that you could put just about anybody in the situation, the movie will work.

Any movie (or book) where I end up actually caring how it turns out for the characters, is a good one in my opinion. I don't mind wildly out there movies if they are set up so that you can at least almost believe that the events could occur.

A good story ; and believable actions in the movie' and make the actors act like there in a a real world may it be murder; science fiction ; or drama. Some movies where the actor look like they don;t even want to be there boring.I seen fight club part way yesterday will finish today; but it was a really good movie and believable.

A good story, well told, populated by interesting characters, that's visually compelling.
