What is the meaning of American Psycho?!

Question: I just finished watching that movie for the third time, and I still don't feel that I understand it.
Can anyone explain the ending to me? Specifically, did he really kill all of those people, or was he imagining it?

I haven't seen the movie, but I read the Bret Easton Ellis novel and it was my understanding that he did indeed kill all those people.

Yet, it is still open to interpretation.

That is the beauty of the story. :)

  • This is a movie speaking to a person who really was losing it and still representing sane, sucessful setting. The character slowly starts to feel more overwhelmed by the desire to kill and loving every minute of it.

I was confused the first time I saw it. I was told he didn't really kill anyone - just fantasizing about it

What's there to understand? Christian Bale is so Hot. Good lines in the movie as well....'I can't stress blonde enough' and 'go wash your va JJ' Check out another movie he was in....The Machinist. He's totally emaciated. Polar opposite of his Psycho buffness. Good Day to all.

Yeah it seemed like he was imagining it. Becuase didn't his lawyer call him by another name or something? I got the impression he was someone else. Good movie up til that point though, pretty humorous at points.

I saw it once, I can't remember it that well but I didn't understand it either.
