Generally speaking, how long does it take to short a full-length feature film?!
Question: like the kind we go to the movies and see.... is there a general, average timeframe or does it all vary? I always wondered.

It depends. Usually bigger budget means more time. Filmmakers usually always want more time - more time for more takes, or more set-ups, or more coverage, or to get exactly the shot you want no matter the weather or effects mishaps or whatever...
A two hour film could be made in just a few weeks - or it could take almost a year. Generally, a few months is the norm - let's say two to five. Some great movies have shot in just 28 days, and some have taken months.
that all depends on the type, how much is CGI how much is photography
Lord of the rings did something interesting
In Two towers you have the castle-town on the side and top of a hill
in Return of the king, to save trouble and time they built the circular city-castle on the same hill.
some movies take days-weeks
some take months-years.
