Sofia Coppola was trashed for her performance. Andy Garcia was ok but not riveting.
It was made too long after the originals!!!
They'd run out of original cast members because they'd already been iced.

I have watched it myself and I think the third one had a great ending for the trilogy, but it wasn't a great movie like the first two...
Great point by Puppet Dictator, the actors wouldn't reprise their roles, Robert Duvall was out, Brando too (well, Brando's for The Godfather Part II).
It was badly overacted, badly acted, badly written, repetitive and just plain boring. Another example of a movie sequel that was made only for a paycheck.
Because they should have stuck with I and II. The Godfather III lacked the ummph that I and II had. I have the collection but I rarely watch III. It's sort of like T3 to me...doesnt exist in a sense..haha
the third one tried to capitalize on the success of 1 and 2, and it just didn't live up to the hype.
it was awful....such a departure from the first two. One was amazing and two was even better....3 was just a bad idea from the start. And no Robert Duvall? The incest angel with Sophia Coppala and Andy Garcia? The story was lacking and the acting was nowhere near up to paar with the first two
It was so bad that Robert Duvall chose to be mentioned as 'dead'. He wouldn't even do Tom Hagen again. It was stupid, and did not flow. I could have written a better script. Have you even seen the first two?
Because it sucks!!
The first two are masterpieces..... the third is mediocre at best
