Well I am 15 and I saw it. They say sh**, twice in it. And there is a ton of blood in it. (keep in mind it's rated R for graphic bloody violence.) it doesn't look that real, but if your child gets squeemish weasily, you may want to leave him or her at home. i mean they do kill people and make them into pies. Other than that it was an AWESOME movie. It was beautifully done, and if you like musicals you will love this.
also, i would just like to point out that NO it is not a true story, it is a legend, based on a poem, and i don't think that people that haven't seen this movie should be commenting on this quesion, especially if they don't know what the movie is really about.

Where the same age and i want to see it badely too im intersted in what peopel have to say?

I saw Sweeny Todd and I LOVED IT!!! Yes there is acually some very gory situations in which throats are slit. The mood is gloomy and the language isn't to bad. I guess it wouldn't be appropiate. I snuck into it and im 14 so it wasn't what I thought lol. Bottom line, no its not appropiate violence wise.

I know that this is definately a musical, and by the descriptions which can be found here http://www.rainbowcinemas.ca/showtimes.p... - it is currently showing Sweeney Todd and says it has some "Gory scenes."
However, it is a good movie. It was voted Best Picture which is quite well done for it. I hope you enjoy, and decide.

I haven't seen it but I know that even somebody as old as you-I'm not saying you're old aged-could get extreme nightmares from it.
Don't you know what it's about? It's about a man who pretends to be a hairdresser, but he slits the people's throats and turns them into patties-WHICH he eats. And did I mention this IS a true story? Ew, yuck, disgusting-that's why I'M not planning on seeing it. (And I'm not lying about the true part.)
Still think your kid is mature enough to see it?

I have seen the movie. It has lots of throat slitting in full view so you can see it as its happening,Blood gushes out of the victims necks,The woman makes the bodies into meat pies,There is a character who is intensely burned. Basically this movie is very violent. And it does have bad words such as the s word and p word. And this movie is about revenge. I am not sure that a mature 12 year old should see this movie. I think it would be ok for a mature 14 year old though. I am 15 so I would guess its up to you but I probably wouldn't.

its AWESOME!

Well im 19 and saw it with my boyfriend.. I HATED it.. i love johnny depp.. but this was just to the point where you started to hate him. at first hes going to kill for revenge, but then he starts killing random old men. and i like musicals, but this was RIDICULOUS.. every other word was a song. and towards the end i was like shut up and end. it was entertaining.. but VERY disturbing.. VERY gory, and made me feel sick afterwords. EVERYONE in the theater was complaining saying they would never see it agian. dont take your 12 year old to see this

Under no circumstances should a responsible parent let any of their children or young adults see this film. It should have been rated NC17 for excessive, unncessary and gratuitious violence. Adults were shocked and repulsed by the gore. Get the soundtrack.

I saw it. I have an 11 year old. It is NOT appropriate for her. It is very bloody. You go see it first. Maybe see a DVD/tape of the stage play.

the movie was very well done. Just not for the squeamish.

And this conventicle has brought us a glistening and irresistible nightmare. There are delicious Dickensian overtones throughout, and the look of the film itself is poetically potent. The entire mix is shockingly seductive with an unforgettable ending. Burton's humor is part and parcel of his sheer brilliance, as always, and, as always, the great Johnny Depp is intense and positively unforgettable. All performances are electric, the pace and length are perfect, and the film draws us deeper and deeper with every moment into its stunning blend of the grotesque and the undeniably beautiful. Analysing the power of a film like this is no simple matter. The whole is dazzlingly disturbing. You don't want to miss a second of it, even though the film is merciless to us and to its protagonists. It sings, it glows, it enchants, it horrifies. I want to see it again. And again. It's a brutal and shattering masterpiece.

It's Sweeney Todd. Of course, there will be blood. It's also a musical and it's Tim Burton.

The film is faithful to the Broadway musical but very dark as is to be expected from Tim Burton. The gore is meant to be superfluous and absurd for a macabre comic effect - blood spurts from throat wounds like a water sprinkler.

Bottom line. No. It's not for kids.
