Atonement in Theaters?!
Question: Did anyone like this movie? I thought it was soooooo slow. I couldnt wait for it to end. I feel bad because I usually love Keira Knightly movies. It got great reviews, mayb it is just me?

The story telling was the best part of the movie. The use of flash backs to show how each character had his/her own version of the different events in the movie was my favorite part. The love story is not the Jane Austen type but it was painfully good and the actors / actresses really did a great job. I was very impressed with James Mcavoy. The quiet intensity.... the rage... the longing....the pain. He didn't have to say anything to show you all that. It was all over his face. I hope he gets nominated for the Oscars. Story wise...what really blows me away is how one little lie can destroy everything and everyone in it's path. Sigh...
The romance seemed really short and the modern ending made me angry. I love Kiera too but I wish there was more of a build up to the romance and less of the boring beginning with the play crap. Oh well at least the actors were gorgeous!
Atonement is more of an artistic movie rather than a "aww" they finally found each other....Certain aspects of the film you will not understand because you are not a film major...I am a film major and I thought it was excellent because the flashbacks were really interesting...what kept it interesting was the weird romance which made it different than other movies. Over all great story and the ending was really sad.
Overall, I thought it was amazing! It was beautifully done and the acting was incredible. I found some of the flashbacks a little confusing, especially since I didn't get that they were never in that apartment together. I thought the ending was so sad, like the hits just kept on coming. And Briony's happy ending for them couldn't compensate for the truth. However, I think it's very Oscar-worthy.
