Are there any modern war films (say within the last ten years) similar to....?!

Question: ....the all-action efforts of the 60s and 70s? I know there are modern war epics such as Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line etc- which I love- but what about more modern equivalents of Where Eagles Dare, the Dirty Dozen, Raid on Rommel, the Wild Geese, unashamedly action and adventure orientated war flicks (perhaps still based on fact) rather than those efforts that seem to concentrate on the human aspect of conflict?

I recommend checking out Shooter. Very good movie.

there is Windtalkers with Nicolas Cage it came out in 2002 I haven't seen it yet but I will so but it kindof sounds like a war movie that you are looking for......sorry if it isn't or doesn't help

Its sad to say but no there isn't. I don't think there ever will be also, look at the cast that was in the Dirty Dozen, that could never be copied, that movie is a classic.

I think Jar head has been the most realistic in the sense that it really got hold of how people act like jackasses in a war zone. I watched it and started laughing at things I remember doing during my two tours in Iraq.

Not really, as most are now focusing on the human impact of war, than just the shooting and blowing up of things

"Black Hawk Down" ( 2001) is the one that comes to mind with the most action; others would be "Hart's War" with Bruce Willis, "Courage Under Fire"
