Am I the only one who thinks "I am Legend" the movie is a disgrace?!

Question: Truthfully I wasted 30 minutes of my life on that movie and I walked out. I thought the book was absolutely brilliant but the movie was dribble. I hated how the movie was turned into some urban culture thing, what with the reggae, and Will smith using the word "son" in a gangstaliscious way.
The books use of classical music takes you into a realm of loneliness that no reggae song could ever describe.
The man was no doctor, the beauty in the book was that Neville had to teach himself about all of these things, from figuring out whether it was a disease, or the vampirism of old, he would go to librarys during the day and get books to educate himself.
Back to the question, am I the only one who thought it was junk. I think the reason it made so much money is people wanting to see if they did the book justice, if you have not read the book, do yourself a favor and read it.

I haven't read the book yet but it sounds very good. Overall, I enjoyed the movie but was a bit disappointed with how it played out. The pacing was off and the woman and child characters were written half assed. True, when the movie is transfered from a book, liberties are taken and the story gets bastardized to some extent. For me, one of the worst offenders in this area was "The Bone Collector" by Jeffrey Deaver. It's an amazing book but a horrible movie. I'm surprised Deaver signed off on that thing. Anyway, I understand your pain because "I Am Legend" had SO much potential and failed to live up to it.

Never read the book or saw the other TWO movies but this movie was horrible.

I didn't like the movie either...found it very cliche hollywood...

it wasn't the worst movie ever made, but i could have done without seeing it. i'll never watch it again.

You are most definitely not the only one. I have answered like eight questions on here about the movie telling people how bad it is and to not see it.

You are not alone. :-)

You can't apply book sensibilities to Hollywood blockbusters. Books are almost always more nuanced, reasonable, logical, and thorough. You're comparing pop culture to literature and they are very much apples and oranges.

I enjoyed it. It was a little slow moving at points but pretty well done for a zombie movie.
