I cant think of the name of this movie!!!!???!

Question: I've only seen one scene from it in my film class and it involved a casting meeting where the director and his agent are on one side of a table and a mysterious important guy and his agent on another. They tell the director that this girl (they are given a picture) will be in his film. The director argues this not understanding what is going on. Meanwhile mysterious important guy is served a latte or a cappuccino which he inevitably spits out into his napkin and gets angry at.

HELP!!!

HELP!!!

Mulholland Drive (2001) by David Lynch
and btw it was expresso...

the Director wears black thick glasses and he's currying a golf stick, that mysteious guy never speaks, the maid asks him politly what he wants but he never reply, except when he ask for a napkin in a very discreet voice, then he shouts with rage, the girl they r talking about is a B&W picture that was placed inside a white envelope, mmmm the director is on the left and this mysteriouse man and his spokesman/ assisstant are on the right...

its one of the newest Surreal movies, and i wouldnt wonder playing it in film class....

It sounds so familiar to me, and I've been running titles through my mind. It seems that it's a deceptively simple name, but it focuses on the determination this man has to have this woman in the film, no matter what it takes. I'm sure I know what it is, but I have to recall an actor or actress to jolt my memory.

I'll return ASAP!

If it's "Mulholland Drive", I'm completely wrong in my thinking. I was recalling a film from, I think, the Nineties in which everything revolves around getting the man's mistress the role she wants. So, I'd better give up my search since I'm probably offbase.

"Mistress" (1992) is the movie I think it is, too! But, since it's older, I wasn't sure if it was the right one. Here's the IMDB synopsis anyway: A comedy about a screenwriter (Robert Wuhl) whose old movie script is read by a producer (Martin Landau) and the search for financial backers begins. But it seems that each money source (Danny Aiello, Robert De Niro, Eli Wallach) has their own mistress that they want put into the film. Gradually, the screenwriter is forced to make changes to his script to accommodate these backers until he finally sees no semblance of his original ideas in the writing.

I was thinking that I must be wrong because there are several mistresses, not one. The scriptwriter runs into the same sort of fix that Kevin Bacon's writer does in "The Big Picture", only it's not with mistresses. Instead, they keep wanting to change things in his script.

So, the other poster wrote it first. I was too much of a coward to post it. *SIGH*

Now, we'll have to see if either film is right.

I think it's "Mistress"

it could be americas sweethearts
