Question: doesn't The Kraken, (or El Krakalaka as i like to call him lol) and the water monster outside the Mines of Moria look hilariously similar? i'm thinking it attacked the Fellowship as a baby and when it grew up it went to work for Davy Jones. What do you think?

LOL.. good point! Who knows, they might just be related. Or with the new movie "Legend of the Water Horse" out, maybe they are all related... cousins perhaps?

They both look rather octopi in nature, but the kraken is more fanglorious
The Kraken is definitely part of sea going legend. The creature outside the Mines of Moria was described as having long tentacles to pull the horse with so I guess the special effects guys were just stumped. Funny that Orlando Bloom was in both movies, though.
