It is a 'buddy' film. It's an ok movie.
Gosh I really dont know how to classify it; it's about a guy who goes to jail and becomes a hero to the other inmates, goes up against the prison boss who kills him in the end. It's one of the best movies I've ever seen, and one of Paul Newman's greatest performances. I dont know anyone who watches it who doesnt enjoy it.

EXCELLENT film. As for genre; it's a prison film, so I guess it would be drama, but it's also pretty funny- wait for the scene where he eats 50 eggs... And Paul Newman is always worth watching. Along the same lines might be Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid- highly recommended.

As for genre...really hard to place but it has mild humor, some violence but not gratuitous and a whole heap of drama.
