The recent British movie 'Hot Fuzz' is hysterical, and has great characters and a bit of a mystery plot that will surprise you.

The Princess Bride

The Break Up was a great comedy (especially if you like Vince Vaughn) yet it had a compelling storyline in the midst of it that talked about relationship and forgiveness. Rachel Aniston is great in and while it can get emotional at times; there's always a witty line or something funny that happens to move audience.
