Good occupation for a character in my story?!

Question: Well, I'm writing a story, and the main character is a female, sarcastic, witty, and independent. Kinda crazy, and extremely flawed. Kind of an exaggerated version of myself. The one thing im hung up on is what she does for a living?
Her name is Lola BTW, she's 26, and possibly living in new york.

bartender
cashier at gas station
hair stylist
radio show host

Barista

she sounds kinda like a reporter =D hope that helped

Make her a bounty hunter.

started her own t-shirt business

lawyer

A door to door salesperson who will do any thing to sell an item.

sounds like a social worker to me.

Dog walker. lol- =)

OKay hun! luv the idea! i've always wanted 2 write a book, i can't start but i never finsish! gud luk 2 ya! Fashion designer... or someone who works in bloomingdales or a shop like that, or a magazine editor like a big popular womans mag like ELLE or something!!!!

A book critic..

A nanny. Many chances for new dynamics with a family, or just briefly include them.

How about a manhole inspector

Ad Executive
Lawyer
Restaraunt Owner

She should be a cryogenisist. Thats pretty wierd. Sounds like her thing.

she is a waitress while trying get auditions for broadway...

she should work in a magazine
an advise columnist or regular writter

magizine editor, art (gala) director, author, optometrist or dental hygienist

I'd contrast her job with her personality, so that you can show range and depth. I would have a real dead pan career such as an accountant, or a female in a very male dominated career.

Personal assistant to a very wealthy but very egocentric stock broker.

She only puts up with his crap because the pay is good.

Wot about a PI type job or Mercenery for Hire:-):-)

reporter

I also write storys, and sometimes the job is kinda hard when trying to match it to the person.
If she lives in New York and is crazy and flawed... well.... anything from hairdresser, make up artist and to café owner is good. Just picture her doing something she would be good at. Sometimes a persons work say something about them as a person, i often base the job on the person. What kinda of believes and life time wants do the person have? What does they like to do?

Sarah, Addison, Alana, Alexandra, Kamryn, Kylie

i think she should have an interestin job like a telemarketer or a lunch lady in an office

I think she should be a secretary that always messes up and sends her boss to crazy wrong places.

How about a New Age Shop Owner.
Or maybe a Network Marketer. If she's
all the things you said then sounds to me
like she'd have to be in busiiness for
herself. I don't imagine she'd like having
a boss too much.

If she's flawed, but is successful, then she probably needs a job that she either works alone or is an expert in what she does. Maybe a computer tech, zoo animal handler or a self employed travel agent.

Working in/owning a record store

Writer for a small publication

Artist/Graphic Designer

Musician/Singer

Well, you could always go with the writer... if that's too cliched for you, artist or musician is always good or some sort of creative like marketing or something of that sort?

Good luck!
