Question: I watched it last night and was really enjoying it, but parents got a bit freaked out just after he killed the twins in the maze.

i watched it two years ago. i can't remember all the details, but i'll try to recall.
*sorry i totally forgot the name of the guy in the story so i'll just refer to him as the perfume-maker, ok?*
after the death of the twins, the father of the girl the perfume-maker was continually pursuing decided to hide his daughter because he had a bad feeling about what may happen to his daughter. unfortunately, they were still found and the girl still ended up dead. but that means the set was completed. after that the ultimate perfume was made. it was said to be the best among the rest.
then, the authorities caught the perfume-maker. he was about to be hanged when he made the people smell the ultimate perfume. after that, the people became a bit crazy. before, they were cursing him for killing all the girls, now, they were worshipping him. later on, the people started making love and that gave the perfume-maker time to escape.
the last scene was when the perfume-maker went back to the place where he was born. in the narration, it was said that the ultimate perfume was said to create love; but in his whole life, there was no one who loved the perfume-maker. so he decided to pour the perfume on himself. then the beggars suddenly crowded him. at first, they were like hugging him and kissing him, but later on, they started eating him. it was like they totally consumed him. and that's how the story ended.
