she said that she was on a ship that was rescued but all the people on it die and when she heard the radio signal from the dr.(will smith) she came back to try and find him.theres a part where she explains that she and her son had been waiting at the pier all day.
i dont know i think she just ran over the streets real fast and ran over the army when they were in the way
