This is really an older movie also. Like many others, it has also been remade quite a few times before the 1985 vesion.

A couple of the first ones were:
1914, by Cecil B. DeMille.
1921 by Fatty Arbuckle.

The last one released in 1985, starred Rickard Pryor and John Candy. This is the seventh film adaptation of George Barr McCutcheon's 1902 novel.
