Haven't seen HoFD, but the Harry Potter movies have all been quite disappointing. I will look for HoFD on this recommendation because you're right about Harry. Best book series ever -- real mediocre movies.
I've never seen house of flying daggers. I love harry potter, but the movies are crap, compared to the books.

I like both but House of Flying Daggers was so much better. The martial arts kind of reminded me of Naruto, with the daggers and bamboo.
you cant compare them.. they are aimed at completely different audiences.. different age groups and made for different types of viewers.
adult verses almost a kids movie.. really? why would you compare these two? boredom.. dont get me wrong i love these films .. both of them.. and for very different reasons.. but to choose which is better?

House of Flying Daggers is a beautiful, dramatic, romantic movie and I love it.
The Potter movies are good too, but not nearly as artistic.
One is a martial arts movie and the other is a fantasy movie.
How can you even compare them?
well ive never seen house of flying daggers its on my list to see though....but i LOVE Harry Potter!!!!
