Does anyone know if the monster from Cloverfield is Godzilla?!

Question: I don't know for sure, but I would say definitely not. I believe Godzilla has a copyright, for one, and secondly - there's no way a movie studio is making a Godzilla movie and not plastering the word GODZILLA all over the place as a marketing tool.

Will it be some kind of big building-crushing creature? Yeah, sure. But with a budget of $30,000,000 and a small cast of unknowns and a home-made look, I doubt they had much money in the budget to show us the monster more than a few glimpses.

My brother actually looked it up because he said that he wanted to see what it looked like & there were people out there saying that they have evidence that it's a new and modern godzilla movie...
I don't know for sure though

No its not. Considering Japan has Godzilla JJ Abrams decided to make America's own monster...thats practically it, that is why in the previews we never actually see the monster

it's not godzilla but it's looks to me to be a similar monster. i can't wait for it to come out though. i hope i'm not diappointed though.

i have to agree with common school of thought so far... probably not... I mean think of it... after the last Godzilla movie with Matthew Broderick in it, which was set in New York, not really creating the anticipated return... I doubt the studios would be willing to back a movie about Godzilla but market it as something entirely different... cause you know everyone who goes opening night/weekend will go to work the next day and say... it was Godzilla... and while it may take the box office that first weekend... It would be non existent any weekend thereafter. It is my hope that the monster is not ape-ish (or any other primate-esque, Kong-cousin etc) nor lizard like (reptile, amphibious, scaly, flame producing from the mouth type) creatures. I'm so over them... ever since Kong and Zilla fought each other back in the early 80's...
I am genuinely excited/interested with/in this movie...

A Mutant Whale =P
