Prefer going to the movies, or renting a DVD, and staying home?!

Question: I like doing the DVD thing the best. You're home, no noise, you can press Start when you want to, no missing 10 min.'s - that VERY Important ten minutes of the movie because you have to go to the bathroom...
You can relax, make your own snacks, and yell / clap loudly, even Stand up and cheer at a great scene!!
:-) Have a fantastic evening!! C

I prefer going to the movies...then staying at home...

Going to the movies is best.

Renting. I don't like what's "out there."

I like staying at home because I can rewind on bathroom breaks, and be comfy in my pjs laying in bed and cuddling with my hubby especially horror movies! Plus I think it's ridiculous the cost of movies tickets and food in theaters nowadays. Most movies come out on DVD pretty quick now anyways and I buy alot

Going to the movies is an event for me. For Epics like Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, 300, and action films like Mission Impossible, Bourne films, etc... there is no other way to see them than on the Big Screen.

For most comedies and drama's I can wait to see it in the comfort of my living room. There is the occasional exception, but usually I can wait.

I don't go to the movies without getting popcorn w/ lots of butter. It's a must if your going to get the full experience.

there's nothing like the big screen experience, imo. All these people crowded in a dark chilly theater who all have the same interest in film...I Am Legend, Jurassic Park, 28 Days Later, and War of the Worlds were all better the first time on the big screen than on my 26 inch bedroom TV, LOL.

i would prefer renting a DVD and staying home because i can watch as many times as i want....(_,_)

I should start out by saying that my mother's family owned a movie theatre and ran it until I was ten, so I'm a little prejudiced.

I do like going to the theatre. It is an event. Movies of big scale, movies with a lot going on in the background of the shots, always look better on the big screen. (That includes epics, yes, but also a lot of action films and even some other films.) And of course the sound in the theatre is great, too.

To me, the biggest downside of going out to the movies is the expense. I know that it costs a lot to make a movie, but even so, if I go all by myself, I still end up paying quite a bit to get a ticket and refreshments. (And while I understand the economics of it, it still seems odd to pay that much for a pop.)

I have never had a particularly bad experience with other patrons. I have heard of people who talk on their cell phone while the movie is going on, or who talk to each other, but I haven't really had a problem with that sort of thing. Maybe my time for that is just waiting to happen.

One other big plus for me is that I have already made the time to see the movie when I went to the theatre. I can't count how many movies I have on DVD just waiting for me to get around to watching them, not to mention the books waiting for me to read them. When I go to the theatre, the movie starts and ends with or without me, so I am forced to watch it, and not to just stop it and say, "I'll get back to it."

All in all, I like going out to the movies.

I enjoy either
